Welcome to The Janus School! The decision to enroll your child in The Janus School can be life altering. In an environment that accommodates unique ways of processing information, your child can flourish like never before. A learning difference is not something that will be outgrown some day. But there’s no reason it should define or limit your child’s success. The biggest step in overcoming a learning difference is “learning how to learn.” And we are proud to say that we utilize research-based teaching methods, caring instruction, and individualized learning strategies that will benefit your child for a lifetime.
The Janus School is dually accredited by the Pennsylvania Association of Independent Schools (PAIS) and Middle States Association (MSA).
The Janus School accepts students for grades K-12. Janus admits students of any race, color, and national and ethnic origin. We do not discriminate on the basis of race, color, national and ethnic origin, disabilities or sexual orientation in the administration of our educational policies, admission policies, and school administered programs.
Our goal in the Admissions Office is to help you gather all the information you need to make the best informed decision for your child. We invite you to see firsthand how our experienced teachers, individualized instruction, and a nurturing environment can make all the difference in a child’s life. We hold Open Houses on the first Thursday of most months and welcome you to reserve a spot or schedule a private visit by calling 717-653-0025 or by completing this form.
Open House Dates:
A Janus education is an investment in a child’s lifelong success. Janus students receive a rigorous, quality education, and learn valuable techniques to ensure their continued academic success. But we teach more than academics. We make sure our students are prepared to succeed in all aspects of life – at home, with friends, and at work.
Tuition at Janus is reflective of the close one-to-one contact and individualized education each student receives. However, Janus does not charge the full cost of providing our type of specialized education and relies on the philanthropic support of our friends and family to help close the gap between tuition and the actual cost of our programs through our Annual Fund and special fundraising events.
To help keep Janus affordable for all families, need-based financial aid is available to help parents pay tuition costs. Between one-third and one-half of our students receive financial aid from The Janus School. Eligibility is determined on a first-come, first-served basis. The Janus School works with the Financial Aid for School Tuition (FAST) program through Independent School Management. Families must reapply each year.
To apply for financial aid, visit FAST’s website. FAST administers the application process and any financial documents required will be submitted directly to FAST. FAST offers 24/7 phone and e-mail support for any questions you may have about completing the financial aid application. The fee to apply for financial aid through FAST is $41.00. If you are unable to pay this fee by credit card, or have general questions about financial aid at The Janus School, please contact Michael Peterson, Director of Finance and Operations at 717-653-0025 x103.

Personalized learning at Janus starts by understanding the specific challenges that must be addressed for your child. The primary criteria for admission to The Janus School includes consideration of your child’s diagnosis of a learning difference (such as Specific Learning Disorder, ADHD, Asperger’s Syndrome, etc), their potential for skill improvement, and the absence of a primary emotional or behavioral disability.
To apply to The Janus School, follow these steps:
- Complete the Application Form
- Submit a $75 application fee, with the application form, payable to The Janus School
- Complete record requests from current:
- Optometrist or ophthalmologist
- Send all records to The Janus School
- Send a psychoeducational or neuropsychological evaluation (no more than three years old) for your child
- Complete the Financial Aid process if necessary
After reviewing the completed application, the Director of Admission will schedule a 2-3 day student visit if the applicant meets the primary criteria. Placement testing may take place during this visit. An admission decision will be made after all application materials have been received and the student has visited Janus.
